Here is my full review on all things NuFace after using it for four months. This is not a sponsored post, all opinions are my own and not affiliated with NuFace

Ah, another gadget in the world of self care. Is it a jade roller, gua shua, microneedle, cleansing tool? None of the above. The NuFace is in a league pretty much of its own (plus with the Ziip tool, which I haven’t tried). I’ve been using the NuFace since September, 2020 and have written up everything you need to know to decide if the NuFace is right for you.

Find below what is the NuFace, benefits, who it's right for, which NuFace device to get, how to use, and my personal opinion (plus before and afters!).

What is it?

The NuFace is a daily microcurrent tool which takes about 5-10 minutes daily and requires the NuFace handheld tool plus a microcurrent gel (more on that later). Microcurrent is a clinically tested therapy treatment, and one of the buzzed about innovations in the anti-aging industry. It is used for facial contouring, toning, and firming of aging skin. Microcurrent is a low-level current that mimics the body’s natural current. while also providing both instant and cumulative anti-aging results.

Super not confirmed or backed up? That Jen A. uses microcurrent technology to keep her skin looking oh-so-fabulous.

What are the Benefits?

  • Healthier, younger looking appearance

  • Sculpted look - think defined cheek bones, jawlines

  • Reduced fine lines and wrinkles

  • Preventative anti-aging

  • Tone and lift

  • Reduced tech neck

Who’s it for?

In my opinion, anyone in their late 20’s and up who is ready to commit. For the late 20’s crew, it’s a preventative but noticeable improvement in your skin and tone. 30’s and up it can visibility soften and reduce your wrinkles. But for real - you must be ready to work for it! The process takes about 10 committed minutes each day. It’s an active process - not like a mask. And it can get messy. You know yourself best, if you are ready to commit that time - then this is a great investment and skincare addition. To note, if you are pregnant or are unsure if it's a fit, please consult a doctor and the NuFace website.

What NuFace do I get?

The NuFace mini. In my opinion, I really don’t see the need for the other option, the more expensive NuFace Trinity. The NuFace mini is smaller, can travel, but is just as strong as the Trinity. Oh and about $150 cheaper. The only difference is you don’t get the add on’s (which you have to pay for). The add ons are for the lip and eye area, which I think the Mini still does a great job at targeting. Another difference, the mini times out after 5 minutes. But that’s no biggie, just turn it back on. Here's the deets from the NuFace website.

Should I use the NuFace Primer Gel or Aloe?

Aloe. Let me say that the NuFace Primer Gel is nice. It helps the product not tingle on your skin and just feels good. That being said, it’s pricey. Like really pricey for what you get and how much you need. For my NuFace routine, I apply the gel for my 5-10 minute NuFace routine and then remove it with a cleanser to start my skincare routine for AM or PM. So, paying for something expensive for 5 minutes is not worth it to me. Research and other blogs taught me that Aloe Vera is a perfect substitute. I have very sensitive skin, and was nervous that the Aloe wouldn’t be strong enough with the tingling. Alas! It works perfectly, I can lather it on think so I’m comfortable and it feels just as good, and I feel much less guilty wiping it off right after. Here's the Aloe you can get from Target.

How to Use:

For the actual face application, watch this video on the NuFace website for a great demo.

In addition to the video, here are my biggest tips for using the NuFace:

  • Think of it as a workout. The more you use it, the better results.

  • Use AM or PM. I use in the AM if I have plans that day, if I have time in the morning or know my night will be hectic. Before any events, make sure to use so you get that LIFT AND GLOW! For PM use, you won’t see as much of the lift and tone results in the beginning, but it’s still just as good for long term benefits.

  • Use a lot of gel. If you start to feel any tingling, add more! Plus, only put gel on the area you are working on. It will dry up so take it on area at a time.

  • Use the highest setting unless you get sensitive. Some days, in some areas of my face or neck I get more sensitive to the currents. Then I will change the setting to medium.

  • Go slooooow! I watched a lot of videos by the creator of NuFace and she compared it to working out, slower movements are best for toning. Slowly slowly drag it over your face.

  • Use 5-6 times per week for the first 60 days. Build up that habit friends! From there, you can taper to 3-4 times per week

  • Use on your neck and around your lips!

IHO going rogue? I like to use the Cocokind Chlorophyll mask OR a hydrating mask underneath and put the gel over. Never use a mask with acids or that’s heavy in oil but besides that, go for it!

Bonus Tips:

  • The charge last freaking forever. I use it almost daily, and I think I’ve charged it twice in six months. Love that.

  • Tech neck begone! Nothing has worked on my tech neck except for this.

Lastly - my personal opinion!

I hope with the above information helps you decide if the NuFace is right for you but if you need one last opinion, here is my experience!

I highly recommend it if you fit the above criteria which is late 20’s and above, ready to commit 10 minutes a day and are concerned about anti-aging or reversing aging. I have used the NuFace for about four months and have seen all of the noted benefits of a tone and sculpted look, reduced wrinkles and a brighter look. My tech neck, forehead wrinkles and smile lines were all my areas of focus that have noticeably and significantly improved. In my opinion, I think this is a great, more natural alternative to preventative botox for the late 20’s, early 30’s crew. I can’t wait to see what 6 months and beyond does to my skin!

I've include a side profile below taken only four weeks apart (September - October) to show the progress in the definition of my jawlines and fuller lips. I'll post some more new ones soon after I finish my clean January eating (lol). To note, you can't totally tell with my forehead etc. but I promise, those have all but disappeared!
